Launched in 2020, Expert Registry is new to the Perth business scene but its founders, Lanna Hill and Nic Hayes, are renowned media experts and directors of sister company; Media Stable.
Expert Registry is an online media training program for experts in their fields, enabling them to become ‘media-ready’.
As a brand new business, Expert Registry knew they needed to use digital marketing to effectively launch and build a pipeline of clients. Rather than relying on consultants, ER wanted to solidify marketing expertise in-house.
In recent years, Managing Director, Lanna, had assumed managerial roles, overseeing work at a strategic level, and hadn’t been in the trenches implementing marketing activity.
With the launch of her business, Expert Registry, she found herself on the frontline again. There were some things she knew intuitively how to do like create compelling content, build an engaging social media presence, however when it came to taking her digital marketing activity to the next level, she needed a refresher.
What we did
To begin, we audited Expert Registry’s existing marketing activity, competitor activity, audience behaviour and Lanna’s existing skillset.
Guided by the audit, we crafted two bespoke marketing training courses for Expert Registry: one social media advertising course, and one on-page SEO course.
The course content was tailored to Lanna’s level of knowledge and was delivered online using text, video and tailored activity templates.
After completing each of the training topics, we held support calls with Lanna to run through ‘homework’ from the training, and answer any questions about the course content.
Referring back to the audit, we were able to relate the training back to the strategic opportunity identified for Expert Registry.
How it impacted the business
As a result of the training, Lanna felt confident and capable to lead Expert Registry’s digital marketing activity. Immediately, she was able to give instruction to her web designers to improve the website’s SEO, and begin planning and budgeting for targeted social media advertising campaigns.
As a start-up, these new skills are part of a holistic growth strategy for the business.
